Kim Knapp, CRNP

Kim Knapp, CRNP

Kim joined Eden Park during the summer of 2020. She previously worked as a CRNP at both LGH and Penn State Health for several years. Prior to becoming a CRNP, she worked for Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital as a Pediatric RN for 7 years. She obtained both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from Penn State; it’s no surprise that Kim “bleeds blue and white" and can be found cheering on her Nittany Lions every fall. In fact, fall is her favorite time of year! Her extended family actually owns and operates a pumpkin farm in northeast PA. Kim is a central PA native and currently resides in Lancaster County with her husband, daughter, son, two dogs, and one cat. She feels blessed to join Eden Park’s stellar team of providers, where she will continue her lifelong passion of caring for the children in her community. When she is not working at Eden Park, you can find her teaching nursing students at HACC, chasing around her two kids, jamming to all kinds of music or hanging out at the Jersey Shore where she likes to enjoy good food and company.

What do you wish every first time expectant mom would know?
KK: "The days are long but the years are short." I found this quote to be very true. Becoming a mother was both the most wonderful and most difficult experience of my life. The first few weeks are exhausting while you are trying to heal from delivery and tend to your newborn baby's every need. You might have expectations of what motherhood will be like and it can be hard when things don't turn out as you imagined them to be. Don't compare yourself to others. Be kind to yourself. Give yourself some grace. Ask for help. Snuggle the heck out of your baby. With each passing day, week, diaper change, and cup of coffee... things become easier and more routine. I promise!

What is next on your bucket list?
KK: Travel to Europe. My maiden name was Weyhenmeyer and I have almost 100% German heritage. I would love to go to Germany and experience Oktoberfest!

Learning is a lifelong process. What do you plan to learn more about in the upcoming year?
KK: I would love to become fluent in Spanish and ASL!

Describe your job in 3 words.
KK: Thought-provoking. Uplifting. Gratifying.

Kids say the darndest things. What's your favorite?
KK: When I was very pregnant with my second child, I had a 5 year old girl tell me, "Wow look at your belly! You must have 10 babies in there!" The mother was mortified. I just laughed and said, "No dear, there's only 1 in there!" Great morale booster for a pregnant woman. Good thing she was a cute kid!
