What do you wish every parent of a newborn (or toddler, or teen) would know?

JQ: To take things day by day. At all stages of parenthood there will be days you feel like a total failure. Remember as long as you have taken care of their basic needs and given them love, there is always tomorrow for the extras. As a mom I tend to use this as my mantra when the kids are acting up! Day by day!

Think of a favorite trip. Where did you go and what made it special?

JQ: My daughter's first trip to Disney World when she was almost 3, she has always been a little “over the top”, and boy did she deliver at every show, every parade, every character meet and of course the fireworks displays. It made it so much more special to see it all through her eyes - it took me right back to my childhood. Love that Disney magic!

What was your favorite game to play when you were a kid?

JQ: Definitely outdoor flashlight tag! There were a bunch of kids in my grandparents neighborhood - I was always begging to be at their house to play with everyone. We would get all the kids together after dinner, make up our teams and run from yard to yard throughout an entire block of homes on wooded lots. I was always scared of the dark as a kid but I didn't want to miss out so I just stuck very close to my teammates!

When/why did you decide to become a Nurse Practitioner?

JQ: I come from a long line of nurses so I feel like I pretty much always knew I wanted to be medical. When I was young I wanted to be a Veterinarian. In high school I loved Biology and the human body, so I decided on nursing. When I was in Nursing school and met Nurse Practitioners and saw how thorough and caring they were -  it was like a lightbulb went off. I knew that was exactly what I wanted to do.

Patient Reviews

My son saw Jessica for a minor procedure and she made it quick and nearly painless as it could be for a 3 year old. I appreciate her fast work!

Jessica had such a quick connection my son who is normally very reserved. Her goofy side really won him over and I always feel like my concerns are validated and addressed.
